Artist Aoife Desmond is hosting a film viewing and discussion that would be of interest to environmental, cultural, political geographers.

The event is being organised at the Crawford Arts Gallery and, although it iis free, you will need to register here if you wish to attend.

RetroReflection Film launch and seminar

This event marks the launch of Aoife Desmond’s new 16mm film RetroReflection. Filmed on location at the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) Cork, RetroReflection is a meditative visual essay which examines the intersections between science, nature, art and architecture.

The seminar discussion will be chaired by Mary McCarthy (director of National Sculpture Factory/chair of Culture Ireland). The panel includes Aoife Desmond (artist), Maureen O’Connor (UCC English professor), Paul Bolger (ERI building manager/environmental scientist) & Merritt Bucholz (of Bucholz & McEvoy architects of the ERI buillding). A short accompanying text by Maureen O’Connor will be available in a printed handout.
