CIG 2020 - Covid-19 updates

We are committed to working with the Geographical Society of Ireland and Keynote PCO, our conference management partner, to monitor conditions and assess how best to proceed in terms of CIG 2020 organising. We appreciate your patience, support, and inputs regarding the conference and will keep you updated on the situation as it unfolds via email, our conference website, and Departmental social media.

Tuesday 10th March Update:

So far, there has been one confirmed case of Covid-19 in Trinity College Dublin. This case was not on the main campus and the College is taking precautionary measures to protect the College Community from Covid-19 but common sense suggests that there will likely be more cases in the weeks ahead.

The situation on campus remains subject to daily updates, but as of now the College remains open with requests from those coming from high-risk areas as defined by the HSE asked to stay away from college. As of today, lecture classes have been switched to online delivery for the rest of the semester rather than physically in a lecture hall and tourist/public attractions on campus has been closed.

Thursday 12th March Update:

A second case of Covid-19 was confirmed yesterday evening in an individual based outside the main campus.

As of 6pm Thursday 12th March, TCD along with other Irish universities will be closing until the 29th of March in keeping with national policy in response to Covid-19. As an immediate response to this, we will be extending the deadlines for Early Bird Registration, Abstract Submission, and Conference Enrichment Fund Applications for CIG 2020 until 13th April.

The website www.tcd.ie/about/coronavirus is the best source of information regarding the on-campus situation.

We are monitoring the situation closely and expect to have an update on CIG 2020 planning soon.
